Marc Deschâtelets, MBA

Mr. Deschâtelets is a founding partner and President and Chief Executive Officer of Naccan. He’s a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of professional experience as a senior manager in some of Canada’s most prestigious public and private corporations such as Bell Canada and Cogeco Cable. Before joining NAC, Marc held National management positions in the field of Marketing and sales, such as vice-president – world wide marketing for a satellite communication broadcaster and National Director of sales and customer experience, leading Cogeco’s national marketing and sales organisation in the company’s best performances in years. He also acted as a senior consultant on the international front, helping telecom operators launch new services in Latin America. Marc’s professional credits include numerous management re-organisation and product launch in a variety of industry. His knowledge of the retirement homes services began when he was asked to conducted a complete study of one of Canada’s leading network of retirement homes and performed an overhaul of its residences as well as its service offering.

Marc holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal and an MBA from the University of Sherbrooke. He also received numerous training in Canada, the US and Europe in customer service and customer experience.

As an active member of the community, Marc sits on the board of Directors of many none for profit organisations such as Integration Jeunesse and The YMCA’s of the province of Quebec.


Bernard Truong, B.Sc.

As a founder, Mr. Truong is the Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Naccan.  He is a prominent member of Montreal’s Vietnamese community, and also serves on various non-profit organizations of the Asian community such as Montreal’s Festival Accès Asie. Throughout his 18 years of professional career, Mr. Truong played leading roles in some of Canada’s largest organizations, ranging from operations, billing, IT and customer service. Prior to launching Naccan, Mr. Truong was the Vice-President operations, sales and marketing at “Les Residences Allegro”, one of Canada’s largest retirement homes network. Bernard also held the position of Region Director of Logistics at Coca-Cola Enterprises, where he managed the supply chain, leading all of Canada’s 122 warehouses and distribution centres.

Bernard also served in a senior managerial role within Microcell Solutions (Fido) a major wireless provider - acquired by Rogers Communications Inc., holding the position of Billing Director, responsible for all strategic and tactical decisions made in the area of Billing Management (consumer and wholesale).  He had interaction with all aspects of operations from customer service to the executive management and earned the respect and trust of both ends of the spectrum at the personal and professional levels. During his years at Fido, Bernard was appointed to the Executive Council of the Global Billing Association (GBA), and got invited as Guest Speaker several times at the Billing World conference.

Mr. Truong holds a Bachelor degree in Sciences from the University of Montreal and is currently enrolled for his EMBA at University of Quebec in Montreal.


Marc Trudel, B.Sc.

Mr. Trudel is a founding partner and Vice-President of Shared Services at NAC Canada. He oversees the implementation of all details of the daily operations support at NAC Canada’s future retirement homes. Prior to joining NAC, He was the Senior Director of operations at Les Residences Allegro where he played a crucial role in imbedding efficient working methods and procedures resulting in large economy of scales and operational efficiency.

Marc started his 25 plus years of professional career at Quebec’s largest natural gas distributor ‘GazMetro’, where he spent 14 years in increasing leading roles in customer service and engineering. He later built quality assurance departments for the printing and pharmaceutical industry. As a methods and procedures specialist, Marc went on to become the Director of quality assurance at Fido, a Canadian wireless operator. Marc is the owner and operator a family farm and is a strong believer of re-using, recycling  and energy saving techniques.

Marc holds a Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of Montreal and is completing a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal.


SPECIAL ADVISORY BOARD

Centre d’entreprises et d’innovation de Montréal (CEIM) offers customised management support and related services for the creation and the development of companies in the following sectors : information technology, multimedia, manufacturing technologies and life sciences.

CEIM is providing two prominent members to NAC Canada’s development program.

Robert Picard, CMA, (Acting CFO)

Mr. Picard is the acting CFO of NAC Canada. He has over 40 years of experience in management-accounting. He worked as a financial analyst, accountant and controller in the manufacturing and services industries for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Loto-Québec, Nova Bus, Empire Maintenance Industries and Absorb-Plus Textiles. Throughout his career he has been intimately involved in the financial planning and profitability assessment of investment and systems-implementation projects for large corporations and SMEs alike. Over a 19 year period that spanned his many professional achievements, Robert took the time to teach management-accounting courses at HEC Montreal (The University of Montreal’s School of Business).
Robert Picard is a graduate of HEC Montreal in Administrative and Accounting Sciences and a Certified Management-Accountant in Quebec (CMA).



Gilles Derome M.B.A., M.Sc.

Gilles Derome has worked in Life Sciences for more than twenty-two years. He started his career at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals (now called Novartis), where he held positions in sales, marketing and business development before assuming an executive role in product development. During this time, Gilles Derome directed a team of Project Directors, whose responsibilities consisted in the evaluation and development of several therapeutic products, and the preparation of the business and development plans.

Gilles Derome was a pioneer in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry when he used the project management for the development of pharmaceutical products. He was promoted top executive of NeuroScience, one of the company’s three major business units, where he managed a team of more than 60 people and sales of over $60M annually.

From 1998 to 2002, Gilles Derome contributed to the success of smaller companies such as Labopharm and Bio-Inova, as the Vice-President of Business Development. These tenures allowed him to conclude several partnerships agreements and contracts with industry partners. It also contributed to expand his network of contacts throughout the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies.
In 2003, he joined CEIM as Vice-President, Life Sciences. In the last three years, he has provided many companies with start-up assistance (technology transfer, business plan, financing), business development and commercialisation support.

Gilles Derome received his MBA and Master’s degree in Pharmacology from the University of Sherbrooke, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Montreal.
